This list includes species mentioned in: Baskin JM, E Quarterman, and C Caudle 1968. "Preliminary Check-list of the Herbaceous Vascular Plants of Cedar Glades". J. TN Acad. of Sci. 43:65-71.  The list has been filtered in the following way.  To include only species that are typical of cedar glades, species described as infrequent, occasional, uncommon, or rare were excluded.  Species described as frequent, common, locally abundant were included.  Species known to have originated outside the U.S. or described as roadside weed, fields and roadsides, waste areas, disturbed areas, or weed were excluded.  Species known to be endemic to cedar glades (included in Baskin JM and Baskin CC 1989 "Cedar Glade Endemics in Tennessee, and a Review of Their Autecology" J. TN Acad. of Sci. 64:63-74) were included even if they were rare.  Several endemic species not known in 1968 have been added and the names of taxa have been updated to those used in the USDA Plants Database.  Common names from Carman, Jack B. 2001. Wildflowers of Tennessee. Highland Rim Press, Tullahoma, TN, the USDA Plants Database, and other sources have been added.
